Cleanings & Gum Disease Treatment
We’ll help you keep your teeth healthy and strong!
Maintaining healthy gums with regular cleanings, brushing and flossing can help prevent plaque and tartar buildup, which leads to gum disease.
We make an effort to properly educate all of our patients on what techniques they can use daily to keep their teeth and gums healthy and free of gum disease. We also stay updated on the latest advances in dental tools to give your teeth and gums a more thorough and complete cleaning. With our help you can take great care of your teeth and keep them healthy for life!
Gentle, thorough Teeth Cleanings
Cleanings are done by our experienced hygienist. She is aware of your comfort and she makes it a point to be gentle, yet thorough. To help give you the best results, she uses an ultrasonic scaler during cleanings, which effectively and gently breaks down hard to remove stains.
Ultrasonic scaler for maximum comfort and effectiveness
Our hygienists use ultrasonic scalers during routine cleanings to remove significant buildup of tartar and plaque. Ultrasonic scalers use high-frequency vibrations to break down the hard stains and bacteria from the tooth surface. They are significantly more effective than traditional hand scalers and also provide a more comfortable experience for the patient.
Patient education

Our hygienist will educate you on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Our hygienist will spend extra time to explain all the procedures during your cleaning treatment. She will describe the benefits of using dental health appliances such as electric toothbrushes and effective techniques for daily home care like brushing and flossing.
We monitor your progress as you return on future visits by keeping track of the improvements you have made to your oral health. With regular cleanings and good oral care habits at home you can have a lifetime of healthy, strong teeth and gums.
Effective Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease, the #1 cause of adult tooth loss in the US, is the inflammation of the soft tissue, accompanied by abnormal loss of bone that holds your teeth in place. It’s caused by toxins from bacteria in plaque that accumulate along your gum line.
Gum disease exam
During a gum disease exam, Dr. Dinh will determine the state of your gum health. We use all-electronic charting for our gum disease exams for fast and accurate measurements.
An indication of gum disease is an increased amount of space in the area between the gums and teeth. This is referred to as the gum “pocket.” A larger, deeper pocket indicates a greater degree of gum disease. By measuring or probing of these pockets with a handheld tool, Dr. Dinh can identify the depth, or amount of space in the pocket. Depending on her evaluation, she will work up a treatment plan that aims to restore your gum health.
Gum disease treatment
Dr. Dinh begins your gum disease treatment by cleaning the teeth and gum pockets with an ultrasonic scaler. This helps prevent gum disease from worsening and is essential to the healing process.
Eliminating the bacteria
Once the gum pocket is clean, we use an antibiotic treatment to eliminate any remaining bacteria. Arestin® therapy is a topical antibiotic treatment applied to the gums after a thorough cleaning has been completed. The antibiotics fight any remaining bacteria in the gum pocket, making your mouth clean and free from gum disease causing agents.
